Pumpkin Crisp

There is absolutely nothing low carb about this dessert but it is also the best dessert that I have ever had bar none. This was originally given to my wife by her best friend Melissa Beasley at thanksgiving a couple of years ago and is the most requested dessert anytime we goto or have a party.

1 Can Pumpkin
1 Cup of Evaporated Milk
1 Cup Sugar
1 Teaspoon Vanilla
½ Teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
1 Package Butter Flavored Yellow Cake Mix (18.25 oz)
1 Cup Chopped Pecans
1 Cup Melted Butter
Whipped Cream and Ground Nutmeg to garnish the top.

Directions:

1.Stir together the Pumpkin, Evaporated Milk, Sugar, Vanilla, and Ground Cinnamon and put into a greased 13×9 baking dish.
2.Sprinkle the cake mix evenly over the pumpkin mixture.
3.Sprinkle the pecans over the cake mix.
4.Drizzle the butter evenly over the whole thing and bake at 350 deg for about 1 hour or till golden brown.

Server warm with whipped cream and nutmeg.

Then stand back so that you don’t get trampled on by the stamped to get to it.

Now along comes hoodia. Never heard of it? Soon it’ll be tripping off your tongue, because hoodia is a natural substance that literally takes your appetite away.

It’s very different from diet stimulants like Ephedra and Phenfen that are now banned because of dangerous side effects. Hoodia doesn’t stimulate at all. Cauliflower and Mashed Patatos

Here is a way to cut back on the carbs. My wife makes this and it is great. Just don’t go overboard and eat twice as much.

1 head cauliflower
1/4 cup of no fat milk
5 yucon gold patatos
1/4 no fat magarin
1/4 no fat sour cream

Steam cauliflower until it is tender.
Boil the patatos until they are tender.

Cut up the patatos in to quarters and break up the cauliflower.
Place all the ingrediants in to a large mixing bowl and whip them until its smooth.
Place into a baking dish and place in a 400 degree oven. Bake just long enough to add a golden brown to the top.
This cuts way back on the calories and tastes good to boot.

Eat Less Calories and Watch What You Eat

Weigh loss very simple in principle. Eat fewer calories than you burn in a day to lose weight. That is it, nothing else counts. So lets look at the facts. In a pound of fat there are 3,500 calories. The chart below breaks down how much you would gain by eating to many calories.
Extra Calories a Day Weight Gained in a Month Weight Gained in a Year
250 2 Pounds 24 Pounds
125 = 1 Banana or Apple 1 Pound 12 Pounds
50 = 1 teaspon of Peanut Butter 5 Pounds

As you can see even small amounts of excess calories can have a big effect.
So how do you control it? There are two ways to know if you are eating excess calories 1st is that your moving to the next belt hole. 2nd and the preferred way is a more accurate method, record what you eat. I know it’s a hugh pain to do it but it is cheaper than buying a new belt.

Recording what you eat and when gives you the information to help you master the issue. So just do it for a week and see what you come up with. Then what?
1. Figure out how many Calories you burn in a day
a. You need to know how many calories you use in a day to know how many that you need to eat
to lose weight.

2. Figure out how many Calories your consuming in a day.
a. Now you know many calories you need to cut.
b. Now you know how much activity you need to add

3. Look for patterns of overeating.
a. Lunch with your friends
b. Happy Hour
c. Late Night Snack.

4. Start substituting bad foods for better foods. Meaning lower in calories.
a. Instead of McDonalds try a low calorie Subway. Could save you 1000 Calories and as we know from
the chart above that is big effect.
b. Snickers Bar 250 Calories or a Banana 112 Calories. savings of 113 calories

5. Increase your activity.
a. Exercise is cumulative as far as calories burned is concerned, meaning walking 10 minutes in the
morning and 10 minutes at lunch burn as many calories as walking 20 minutes at one time.
b. Don’t cruse the parking lot for 10 minutes at the store park at the end and walk. Might save you
money in gas and dent repair.

Now armed with this information you know that just by creating a 250 calorie a day defecit you can lose 2 pounds a month. And you know that you can create that by increasing activity, decreasing calories or both.

Eat Before You Shop

Eat before you head off to go shoping. The last thing you want to do is show up at the grocery store already hungry. Its been tested over and over again it you go hungry your going to impluse buy and you will justify it right up to the point you get home with the oreo’s. Hey and once there in the house you can’t let them go to waste.

So do yourself a favor don’t derail yourself before you get there, eat before you go.
